Summary:
Peter Gwin who wrote the article visited the Sahara Desert to meet with the Tuareg rebels. As he walked through the desert the rebel commander tells him to be careful of mines set out by their enemies the Niger Army. For the night they stay close to an abandoned school in the desert. Peter asked people why they were fighting and who the youngest was. They had also talked about the Muammar Qaddafi who supported the Tuareg but also supported the government and the army. When Peter left the rebels the commander told him if the world wants to stop drugs and weapon moving through the desert the world should enlist the Tuareg. But their history of being traitors how could the world trust them.
Reaction:
I thought that this article was interesting; even though I don't like reading about world events. When I was reading the article I thought that it was interesting Qaddafi was supporting the rebels while also siding with the government. If he was supporting both sides that would mean a lot of his money is going to them. I mean he is wasting his money siding with both sides. I also thought what the commander said about the world enlisting the Tuareg was interesting. I think it could be a good idea because they know the Sahara like their own hand. I found this article about the Tuareg rebels informative.
