The first "blue" rose will be coming to the United States this fall. Named the Applause the rose was created in Japan after 20 years of research by a Japanese company called Suntory. This lab also distills whiskey. Even though it has a purple silver color it is the closest to a "true blue" rose. The blue rose had a mythical quality because until recently humans were never able to produce it. The blue rose has brought the quest for the impossible. Before florists just dyed white roses blue. The Applause, the first "blue," rose was sold for 10 times the original price of a regular rose.
Reaction:
At first I thought that it was cool that they created a blue rose. When I actually saw the picture though I was disappointed it wasn't an actually blue color, but it was a purple lavender color. Also to find out that it is 10 times the cost of a regular rose I would just buy some white roses and dye the color blue. I was disappointed that the color of the rose was not actually blue
